Today I had a particularly embarrassing experience… well actually two embarrassing experiences. Firstly, I forgot to put fresh batteries in my calculator which meant I couldn’t complete my uni exam. But I didn’t feel that bad because about 50 out of the 200 students in the unit didn’t even bring a calculator.
After the exam, I decided to get some food to help me to forget the pain of failure. I found the dankiest cafe on Gertrude St, Fitzroy (oooh name dropping), I asked the Danish backpacker cum waitress for a Coke and a Hedgehog.
And that’s where it all went wrong.
For some reason, I don’t know how, (I speak fluent Engrish and 1337) the waitress thought I said Headjob instead of Hedgehog. I think she may have been obliging because she didn’t go out and get an AVO or anything. I’ll go back tomorrow and see if I get the same reaction.
After 17 years, 372 Episodes and 9999^9 re-runs, The Simpsons are finally coming to the big screen. How does one react after ‘kicking the 6:00 habit’? Celebrate? Quote Simpson Quoteables? In all honesty, I couldn’t give a fuck.
The fact of the matter is that The Simpsons are no longer relevant to this generation of teens let alone children. Like the vapid cow known as Roseanne (who?), Seinfeld or even Fresh Prince Of Belair (ask your parents kids), The Simpsons should have ended on a high note in the late 90’s.
Perhaps the main reason why The Simpsons have become stale is because there are no new plots, ideas or characters that can be introduced into the fray. The Simpsons have done everything and been everywhere - at least twice.
The success of The Simpsons movie rests on a good story and a shift in the characterisations. This will be probably be the only cartoon motion picture that will be targeted at a 25 year old demographic because most of the people that enjoyed watching the show have grown up. If the writers and directors do a good job, this could quite possibly re-ignite interest in the show.
One big question that would need to be answered is how do you end a sitcom after 17 years? Cryfest like Friends or just drop off the face of the universe like Bugs Bunny. Either way it will most important moment in television history.

Over the last few weeks I’ve been selling some old computer and audio gear that I have had stored in cupboards around the house. Amazingly, every item has sold for more than fair market value.
Today with the money that has been accrued I went on a shopping spree. I brought some new tops, jeans and paid off the balance on my Xbox 360. I also brought a new monitor to replace one of my old PC display (which I sold off a week prior).
I ended up purchasing a Samsung 960BF to work along side my Apple 15″ studio display. It took about an hour to realise that all the controls for the monitor (aside from power) are software based. So if you plan on buying this particular monitor, you’ll need to go to the Samsung website in order to download the drivers.
My Mac rig will turn six in June so rather than toss out the current G4 tower and upgrade to a new system, I’ve been selectively changing components. The stock G4 is pretty crap: G4 866Mhz, 64 MB SDRAM (we’re talking old school folks), 2X CDRW drive, 20GB, 32 MB graphics card. I now have 1GB SDRAM, 8X DVD RW, 120 GB Hard drive. I’ve also brought a new Logitech Keyboard and Mouse because Apple keyboards generally become more stiff and uncomfortable to type on as they get older.
So the new monitor makes a welcome addition to the updated setup. Next step is to buy a KVM in order amalgamate my PC and Mac’s into one system.
I checked my Flickr account just now and noted that it has been viewed 756 times with the first and second photos getting 198 and 149 views respectively.
Can someone please ’splain to me why some over exposed and poorly framed photos of a tram are getting so many hits?
Yesterday morning the nominees for the 2006 Gold Logie were announced. And in no particular order…
1. Ada Nicodemou
2. Bec Hewitt
3. Bert Newton
4. Bridie Carter
5. John Wood
6. Kate Ritchie
7. Natalie Bassingthwaighte
8. Rove McManus
Firstly, no Simon ‘Hotdogs’ Deering? This is an absolute outrage!
Secondly, Bec Hewitt (of whor-ing away fame) hasn’t even been on the box for the past 12 months and she still gets nominated for the gong? WTF??
So this stellar line-up is supposed to represent the best in Australian television? While you’re at it, why not nominate the Simpson’s for being the most repeated programme on television? Or Chris, from the Biggest Loser for best actress because she does nothing but cry crocodile tears?
But aside from that folks, there is a profit to be had. This is the first year where the Logies will be open to everyone. Through the use of “innovative” SMS voting, you too can be part of the wankfest known as The Logies.
